People who have a command of watercolor really blow me away. As you might imagine, getting any kind of precision with such a wet media is challenging at best. Getting the kind of precision present in these pieces by Molly Brill is something of a curiosity. That combined with her unique stylistic approach and compositional eye, we think these are amazing.
The subject matter of these incredible photo-realistic paintings seems to take a back seat to the incredible level of technical skill present in their execution. The artist, Diego Gravinese, paints in a manner that results in a crass display of skill, and we're loving it.
Brandon Bird does some great paintings of celebrities juxtaposed into odd situations. Take the above "No One Wants to Play Sega With Harrison Ford" for instance. Brandon has a number of other quirky projects on his site that are totally worth your time to check out, like his kids' Christmas letters to Christopher Walken.
Meet Solveig, a 10 year-old graffiti and now, tattoo artist from the UK. In a world that continues to discourage artistic expression amongst its youth, it is refreshing to find someone who is not only doing her thing, but doing it big. I don't really know what's more awesome in this last picture - the fact that a fifth grader is doing a tattoo, or the awesome OG dookie-rope she is rocking.
